This month, the Mazda MX-5, formerly known as the Miata, was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's best selling sports car with its 900,000 rolling off the assembly line.
Congrats to Mazda. The “zoom zoom” automaker recently joined the Chevrolet Cruze, non-Si Honda Civics, the Kia Forte, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Golf as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
2012 Mazda 3 made its U.S. debut in 2011 at New York International Auto Show. Mazda has announced that the first recipient of its new SKYACTIV four-cylinder engine will be the face-lifted 2012 Mazda 3, set to debut at the New York auto show in April. The exterior styling has been tweaked, but the real story is, of course, the engine.

Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase the world premieres of the Mazda Furai concept vehicle and the heavily revised 2009 Mazda RX-8 sports car at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), to be held in Detroit from Sunday, January 13 through Sunday, January 27, 2008. On the heels of its show-stopping debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show in October, the Mazda Taiki concept vehicle also will make its North American debut, the first time it has been shown outside Japan.

It’s plenty of fun even with just 100-hp, but Mazda isn’t called the Zoom Zoom brand for nothing. Revealed today at the 2011 SEMA Show is a tuner car concept dubbed the Mazda2 Turbo. Rather than some bolt-on turbocharger this sub-compact gets a complete swap from its big-brother, the Mazdaspeed3.

Mazda has given SEMA goers something to get excited about with a pair of MX-5 Miata concepts. The MX-5 Miata Spyder Concept has done away with the standard car's folding soft top or retractable hard top mechanism in favor of a lightweight grenadine-red canvas covering à la Porsche's Boxster Spyder. The look lends the already lithe roadster an even more svelte appearance, and the Spyder's 17-inch Advan alloys and Mazdaspeed coilovers ensure that the driver should have plenty of fun when the road turns twisty. Mazda has also rolled in quite a few excellent details, including etched brushed stainless Spyder badging on the front fenders and a clean MX-5 Spyder logo on the passenger-side dash.

Mazda is adding a bit of extra mojo to the MX-5 Miata at the Chicago auto show, debuting a limited-run variant with a hardtop and contrasting trim.
