The BMW Z1 is made from three different types of plastic and could be removed completely from the chassis.

These doors retract vertically down into the car's body.

The BMW Z1 was produced from July 1988 to June 1991.

The instruments on the Z1 are styled like motorcycle gauges, and the tachometer on the Z1 has a red needle, whereas all other gauges have a white needle.

Only 8,000 copies of the Z1 were produced.

The rear downforce is created by a low pressure area generated by the effect of the airofoil section of the transverse rear silencer box, and it's nearby body parts which work as aerofoil slats.
